dear artists

to be featured in our fundraising documentary zine, please digitally submit a well-lit, good-quality image of your work.

Following the success of our last Art for Unity exhibition, this is a call out for artists who want to help us create a community-based project that promotes peace and embeds solidarity with Palestine into the North East. As people, now is more important than ever to come together and use the power we have as a collective, to create noise and transformation. Art and culture is a powerful medium to incite change and raise the awareness of a community in a way that politics and words often fall short.

This exhibition will be held in the Baltic’s Riverside Terrace space, in the first week of July for four days. We believe the space reflects Zeytoun’s ethos of fostering culture, community and connection with people from all backgrounds. Additionally, that weekend, we will be collaborating with the Baltic’s Language Café to host a community day full of Palestinian food, art workshops, and conversation.

how can you get involved?

In line with our last exhibition, this call out is open to all ages, backgrounds and locations, setting out to unite our community, raise money, revive attention and importantly, shine a light on the rich and diverse culture of Palestine. To compassionately bring life, and humanity to the suffering.

Whether you are a painter, photographer, printer, drawer, sculptor, poet - we would like you to create a well informed and researched piece which points eyes to Palestine, centred on any of the following themes: daily life in Palestine, solidarity, liberation, decolonisation, celebration, and education.

If you have any questions or queries about your concept, don’t hesitate to contact us at zeytounarts@gmail.com, or dm us on Instagram @zeytounarts. We will not accept any works that include explicit images of suffering, gratuitous violence, hate or racism. Since the exhibition will be held in a family friendly environment, it is especially important to consider making your work appropriate.

The media is saturated with images like this that anonymise and dehumanise the people involved. This is why after 77 years, and the ongoing assault on Gaza, our focus is on all of the human lives impacted and illuminating a culture that has so often been overlooked in the West.

Please explore the examples of artwork that communicate similar themes, along with our past exhibition, before conceptualising your piece. We have made these available on the website. We look forward to hearing from you!
